The movie Death on the Nile will be streaming on Hulu and HBO Max later this month. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh, who plays the eccentric moustachioed detective Hercule Poirot. Kenneth Branagh played the same character in Murder of Orient Express, which he also directed earlier this year.
Branagh has a knack for translating Christie’s novels into films. Death on the Nile is based on an Agatha Christie novel of the same name, and it follows a murder mystery in 1939 aboard a river cruise along the Nile. The setting matches Christie’s classic detailed settings, typically featuring global locations, letting viewers indulge their inner explorers with these gorgeous landscapes. And when you swing from one film to another like Murder on The Orient Express (a world set in arctic conditions) to Death On The Nile (set in lush surroundings), you keep everything fresh and new!
Death on the Nile is a story of how an expensive honeymoon goes out in flames when their luxury riverboat trip turns into a crime scene. Poirot attempts to solve this most heinous murder as they float by sweeping desert landscapes and pyramids of Giza, showcasing the harsh but beautiful ecosystem surrounding them.
