While Filming a Scene in Kissing Booth 3, Joey King, who starred in The Kissing Booth franchise, admits that she was seriously high while filming a sequence for the picture. King is most recognized for her appearances in Fargo, Ramona and Beezus, and The Act, the latter of which earned her an Emmy nomination for her performance. King has garnered widespread acclaim for her major part in the Kissing Booth trilogy. Joel Courtney, Molly Ringwald, and Jacob Elordi are featured in The Kissing Booth 3.
King revealed that she took an edible just before filming the scene with Courtney on the beachfront in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! She further described that fellow cast member Taylor Zakhar Perez gave it to her after taking one himself but not having more shooting parts. She remembers being super high while shooting the sequence and having numerous other setups from that day to shoot. She recalled her experience in the following words;
“On my last day of filming Kissing Booth 2 and 3, I took an edible while we were filming. It was very unprofessional. I had seven more setups left. I still had more shots to do. And my friend Taylor [Zakhar Perez] who played Marco, he wasn’t working and he took one too, and I got like so violently high. You know when you’re really high, all you know how to say is ‘I’m so high?’ That’s where I was at… If you’re a fan of The Kissing Booth, you’ll know what scene. I took it during the scene where me and my best friend Lee are on the boardwalk having a heart-to-heart about why I lied to him about college. I was just so effing high.”
King is crying while speaking to Courtney, which accounts for the puffiness of her eyes. Thus it is not immediately apparent from watching the sequence again that she is high. Artists frequently smoke or ingest marijuana while filming sequences. Proponents of the drug, such as Pete Davidson and Kevin Smith, say that doing so improves their artistic talent. Since cannabis use in private is permitted in South Africa, where The Kissing Booth 3 was filmed, King’s actions were merely unprofessional and not against the law.

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of recreational marijuana, as long as actors can finish their scenes competently and in due time. With a bit of self-awareness of one’s tolerance, there’s no reason actors shouldn’t use marijuana to aid their performance if they feel so inclined, even though King isn’t eager to use it again after she consumed too much in the Kissing Booth 3 scene. Not that it was visible on the stage either. Cannabis’ therapeutic effects on sensory acuity and stress reduction may readily enhance an actor’s performance by facilitating easier character immersion and lowering performance anxiety.
The third installment of The Kissing Booth is based on Elle, played by Joey King, who must decide between going to Berkley with her best friend Lee and Harvard with her lover Noah played by Joel Courtney and Jacob Elordi, respectively. Ultimately, the argument culminates in a confrontation between Elle and Lee on the boardwalk, during which Elle expresses her frustration with having to please everyone else. The Kissing Booth 3 earned negative reviews when it was first released, but not unlike the first two movies of the franchise; it nonetheless attracted large audiences through Netflix streaming.
