With its humorous narrative and a flawless cast of three lead roles, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal – the legendary comedy trio Hera Pheri became a cult favorite movie for all the years to come. Even though the first two movies were released years ago, the franchise remains a great source of memes and puns even today.
As film producer Firoz Nadiawala discloses the third sequel of the popular Indian film Hera Pheri in a public interview, there will be plenty more meme material available for fans of this Indian classic. Since the earlier movies of the franchise received much applause, there was a massive demand from the loving fans for the third sequel of this Bollywood classic. To fans’ surprise, this was met with a positive response from the franchise’s producer in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
He quoted, “The story is in place, and we are working on certain modalities. It’ll be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters. We can’t take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerism, etc.”
As far as it goes for the director of the film, Firoz revealed that they have narrowed down someone for the role who will be disclosed soon enough. While there were whispers of Raaj Shaandilya being approached for the position towards the end of 2020, the producer quickly dismissed these rumors.
The cast will comprise the same lead roles of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Ghanshyam, played by the original cast of the first and second movies of the franchise.

There is not much known about the story as yet. However, something that most people are not aware of is that Hera Pheri 3 was under production in 2014 as well. The story is different this time due to the difference in casting. One thing Firoz revealed, though, is that it was the change in the plot which rolled Akshay Kumar back into the lead cast.
Although the third part of this film is a much-awaited sequel, the producers do not want to rush into anything. It seems that the primary concern of the producer is to maintain the same wit, charm, and quality as the previous movies. Firoz himself stated this priority in his interview in the following words.
“Sustaining at the box office is important. And the moment you take anything for granted, it falls. Because we hope that God willing, we can make more parts – Hera Pheri 4, Hera Pheri 5, etc. And it should be better than the earlier parts. We hope that there will be a new film released every 15 months. Isn’t this how the West operates? Don’t we get a new Spider-Man or Bond film soon after the previous part has been released in the cinemas?”
From this, it seems that the producers are aiming to release the new movie at the box office. However, Netflix is becoming a significant platform for premieres of Hollywood and Bollywood movies alike. Bhool Bhulaiya 2 and Gangubai Khathiawadi serve as two famous examples of this, so we may never know. Hera Pheri 3, like Phir Hera Pheri, could also be streaming on Netflix pretty soon.
Although there is no official release date out yet for the premiere of this comedic classic, some sources suspect it to be some time in November 2022. Stay tuned and stay updated!
